ACCOMMODATION & MEETING FACILITIES
Pärnu's history as a tourist destination dates from 1838, when an old beachside tavern was rebuilt into a swimming facility. 50 years later, the city government bought the bathing establishment and hired a bathing inspector, who directed the development of a therapy and recreation spa. Functionalistic-style recreation and accommodation establishments were opened in Pärnu and in 1937, the luxurious Rannahotel opened its doors.
Since that time, Pärnu has constantly developed and expanded, to provide enough hotel rooms for visitors and ensure that they enjoy their time here. Currently, there are over 20 hotels (including spa-hotels) in Pärnu and the same number of guest-houses and bed-and-breakfasts.
Almost evry hotel has there own meeting room or several so people can have a productive conference session at the same building where they are staying.
GREEN KEY
In order to demonstrate their environmentally friendly attitude, several enterprises providing accommodation services in Estonia have joined the international environment label system "Green Key". This is the way of demonstrating how guests can attain a harmony between quality, convenience and environmentally friendly behaviour.
Accommodation establishments can apply for the "Green Key" label on a voluntary basis. In Pärnu, the holders of the "Green Key" label are Ammende Villa Hotel & Restaurant, Koidulapark Hotel and Tervise Paradiis SPA Hotel & Water Park.
